New Monthly HR Twitter Chat at #HRforAll

In a matter of weeks, the Coronavirus has changed our world. From business as usual to stay-to-home orders, sickness, and an economic crash, it’s hard for most of us to even figure out what we feel or words to match that.

Hence, I’ve been fairly quiet on here the last few weeks. For the first time in 10 months, I forwent weekly blog posts in lieu of silence.

But now, I’m excited to announce the beginning of something new, something awesome.

Last month, I went to an industry event and met my new friend – someone you may know, as well – Cory Kapner. We had a hyper engaging conversation on how to close the skills gap, and knowing we had to continue to put our heads together to solve some additional HR and Future of Work problems.

That’s why, Cory and I joined forces to produce a new, monthly Future of Work and HR-focused Twitter chat at the hashtag #HRforAll. Our first chat will take place on April 14 from 1 to 2pm EST. Please join us. All our welcome and encouraged to join.

Join Cory Kapner and Micole Garatti for a new future of work and HR twitter chat at #hrforall

The Rules of a Twitter Chat

A Twitter chat is a LIVE chat that takes place on Twitter. People “gather” at a certain day and time to talk about a certain topic. There is usually one or two people who moderate or host the chat, who post questions to guide the conversation.

Questions are all marked with a Q and labeled with numbers to help everyone keep track of the flow of the conversation. People responding to questions should mark their answers with an A and the corresponding number.

For example, the moderators/ hosts will post “Q1” and everyone will answer with tweets marked “A1.”Additionally, all Tweets – both questions and answers – will use the hashtag #HRforAll. That’s how we’ll all stay connected on Twitter during the chat.

The Topic & Questions

Each month, Cory and I will pose new questions that we can all discuss during the chat. This time, the questions will be posted on my account @socialmicole and will all include the #HRforAll hashtag. We’ll start with Q1 at the beginning of the hour and work our way through all the questions by the end of the hour.

For April’s chat, we’re going to talk about how we come back from the Coronavirus pandemic. We’ll talk about where we are now, how this pandemic has and will impacted our workplaces AND workforces, and make some predictions on the future.

Here are the questions:

  1. What actions has your organization taken in response to the pandemic?
  2. What are the 3 biggest challenges HR professionals face during this time?
  3. Have there been any aspects of your job that have improved during this time?
  4. For those of us who are on work from home for the first time, how are you liking it? If you’ve worked remote in the past, have you noticed any changes?
  5. In terms of workforce, many people have left major metropolitan cities to go “home” to their families. Will people return to cities post pandemic or do we think they will stay at home? How will this impact future workforces.
  6. As organizations test remote work for the first time, many may consider whether a remote work strategy could benefit the firm and employees long term. Will your remote strategy stay? Will you get rid of offices permanently?
  7. With the pandemic being our new reality, what do you think the future of work looks like post pandemic, 1 year out, 3 years out, and 5 years out?
  8. Many new graduates and HR students are realizing that they won’t be able to do summer internships, or that professional exams (i.e. the Bar) are being postponed. What advice do you have to students or new graduates on how they can recover during this time?
  9. We’ll end on a positive note. Tell us what you’re doing to keep sane during this time?
