Voices of Influence in HR with UKG and Sarah Morgan – June 2020 #HRforAll Twitter Chat

What is influence? Who has influenced you the most? What resources have helped shape your career? Who or what made you want to start writing, blogging, or podcasting about HR? With the recent relaunch of The Most Inclusive HR Influencer List, is there any better time to talk about influence?

This month, we’ll be hosting our third chat on Voices of Influence in HR. Cory and I are also thrilled to announce that we have not one, but TWO special guests joining us this month. Ultimate Software’s Director of HCM Innovation and The Most Inclusive HR Influencer List award winner, Christa Degnan Manning, is the first guest. The second is The Buzz on HR’s Sarah Morgan!

Here’s how the chat will go.

The Questions

  1. Let’s start with work. What influenced you to go into HR? What makes you want to stay in HR?
  2. What resources helped you get started? Which ones help you now? This could be books, blogs, newsletters, chats, etc.
  3. In lieu of the Black Lives Matter protests last week, what can we all do to influence our organizations to make some real change?
  4. Now let’s look at HR Influencers. What made you want to start your blog/podcast or just writing in general?
  5. How has your writing/blog/podcast changed your career, if at all?
  6. What advice would you give to others looking to start a blog or podcast? How can we encourage more Black and POC HR leaders to start writing/speaking?
  7. Which 5 people share the best HR resources or inspire you the most? Please tag your favorite Black Influencers and leaders!

The Rules of a Twitter Chat

In case you need some reminding, a Twitter chat is a LIVE chat that takes place on Twitter. People “gather” at a certain day and time to talk about a certain topic. There is usually one or two people who moderate or host the chat, who post questions to guide the conversation.

Questions are all marked with a Q and labeled with numbers to help everyone keep track of the flow of the conversation. People responding to questions should mark their answers with an A and the corresponding number.

For example, the moderators/ hosts will post “Q1” and everyone will answer with tweets marked “A1.”Additionally, all Tweets – both questions and answers – will use the hashtag #HRforAll. That’s how we’ll all stay connected on Twitter during the chat.
