NAVIGATING MENTAL, TEAM, AND ORGANIZATIONAL HEALTH DURING A PANDEMIC MAY 2020 #HRforAll Twitter Chat

Last month, Cory Kapner and I launched our first monthly #HRforAll Twitter chat. Generally, the chat is dedicated to enhancing and innovating the future of work. Last month, we talked about how we come back from the Coronavirus.

Turnout was amazing. With roughly 300 tweets, and other social media posts scattered on other platforms, we’re thrilled to hear the chat was a success! Here was some of the feedback:

This month, we’ll be hosting our second chat on Navigating Mental, Team, and Organizational Health During a Pandemic. Here are the questions.

The Questions

  1. What changes did your business make to deal with the pandemic? Anything new in the last month?
  2. How long do we think we’ll need to keep up social distancing at work? How do we plan on accommodating employees during that time?
  3. What are some things you’re doing now to prepare for post-pandemic life? Both personally and professionally.
  4. What things have you been doing to stay sane during this time? Both at work and at home?
  5. How are we checking in on employees during this time? Phone check ins? Pulse surveys?
  6. What tools have helped you communicate with and check in on your team during this time?
  7. What is everyone doing to ensure their team stays connected and focused? Virtual happy hours? Team building activities?

The Rules of a Twitter Chat

In case you need some reminding, a Twitter chat is a LIVE chat that takes place on Twitter. People “gather” at a certain day and time to talk about a certain topic. There is usually one or two people who moderate or host the chat, who post questions to guide the conversation.

Questions are all marked with a Q and labeled with numbers to help everyone keep track of the flow of the conversation. People responding to questions should mark their answers with an A and the corresponding number. 

For example, the moderators/ hosts will post “Q1” and everyone will answer with tweets marked “A1.”Additionally, all Tweets – both questions and answers – will use the hashtag #HRforAll. That’s how we’ll all stay connected on Twitter during the chat.
