3 Tips to Blog Like a Professional Writer

I’m starting to see a trend among micro-influencers. Their blog content is fun, conversational, and easy to read. Which is great! At the same time, many times the content misses key things that every professional blogger or writer always includes. If you are a blogger or want to start blogging in a way that boosts your career, these tips can help.

Professional Bloggers Back Points with Statistics

Anecdotes are great. Stories are fun. But one thing professional writers always do is base all their points in facts and statistics.

We’ve all heard of ethos, logos, and pathos. In case it’s been a while and you don’t remember, those are all different approaches to establish credibility and build an argument.

If you don’t remember from these school-day conversations, great arguments have elements of all ethos, logos, and pathos because everyone responds to credibility differently. For me, people have said they notice me because I’m passionate. However, passion isn’t what drives everyone. Many people respond to statistics. And, others respond to emotional appeal.

Having a mix of all three leads to the most professionally-written content.

Improve SEO by Linking Blog Posts to External Sources

Linking to external articles or blog posts does a few things. First, it helps increase the SEO power of your post and site. It also add credibility to your post from the reader perspective because it shows you’re informed and pulling information from a variety of sources.

Link to Internal Posts

We’ve all heard the saying “familiarity brings fondness.” Consistency also add credibility. Whether you like his politics or not, people respect Bernie Sanders because he’s been advocating for the same policies for literally 50 years. If you can show that you’ve been talking about similar topics for a while, you will seem more credible than writing a one-off post.
